Why we are building this
Universities run a large number of public lectures, talks and events, but they are spread across hundreds of separate websites and are hard to find unless you already know where to look. We bring them together in one place to increase public access to university knowledge, particularly for people who would not otherwise come across them.
What we list
We list events that a university or university-affiliated organiser advertises as open to the public, such as:
- public lectures, talks, seminars, panels and debates;
- workshops and webinars with an educational or intellectual focus;
- in-person, online and hybrid events, whether free or paid.
We do not list events advertised as restricted to staff, students, members or invited guests, and we hold back events where the published information is not clear enough to tell whether the public can attend.
What we show, and attribution
- Event facts: title, date and time, venue or online format, and the organising university or department.
- A short summary, with a link to your event page for the full details.
- Booking, online joining and livestream links, where appropriate and publicly provided by the organiser.
Every listing names your institution and links to your original event page, which remains the authoritative source. We do not reproduce full event descriptions or images, and we do not display contact details published on event pages.
Corrections and opting out
If a listing is wrong, out of date, or should not be listed, please contact us with a link to the listing. The same route handles opt-out requests and other enquiries from universities.
You can also ask us to stop listing events from your institution, or from a particular events page. Once you have opted out, we stop collecting events from those sources and remove existing listings.
Claiming your institution's profile
In future, institutions will be able to claim a profile to correct listings directly, add events we have missed, and choose which of their event sources we use. If you would like to be involved early, please get in touch.
Free listings and future partnerships
Listing your public events is free. In future we may offer optional partnerships, such as promoted listings or outreach and widening-participation collaborations. Any paid placements will be clearly labelled and kept separate from how events are normally included and ranked.
Who we are
The directory is run by Zoe Humble, who worked in a UK university for over a decade and is committed to promoting education and social mobility. For any question about the directory, please use the Contact page.
